How to Apply - Masaki Campus

Welcome to The Latham School, Masaki Campus!

We have only recently taken possession of our new site at Masaki, and expect all the renovations at the new campus to be completed by the end of August 2020. This will allow us a few days in September to get organized before school starts in September. While we welcome visitors and would love to respond to your questions in person and on site, we do ask for your patience, as spaces to meet in the new campus are somewhat limited with construction work in progress. Please do call ahead and make an appontment to meet with the Principal, or to speak with him on the phone. As soon as the campus is ready, we will be happy to host you and take you on a tour of the spaces available.

In our first year at our new primary campus in Masaki, we will be accepting applications for children in Years 1 – 6, as shown in the table below. Although a Reception class may be available, spaces in this class will be limited to siblings of enrolled students in older year groups only. In the meantime, there are a number of nursery and pre-schools in the Masaki area for children aged 2-4 years, and we would be happy to provide parents with our recommendations. We also have provision for children older than 11 years at our beautiful secondary campus in the North at of the city at Bahari Beach, and we expect children from our primary campus in Masaki to transition seamlessly to Keystage 3 when they have reached that age.

Because of social distancing, we will only be accepting a maximum of 12 children in each class, and a class will only be opened if there are 5 or more children enrolled in the class. When spaces are full for any given class, a waitlist will be opened, with spaces offered when available. Where there are fewer than 5 children enrolled in a class, the class will not be opened, and application fees will be returned to parents.

In this first year of our new campus opening, we will not be charging a building development fee, which will become applicable in future years. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

In order to start your child’s application with us, please follow the steps listed below:

Step 1:

Check your child’s age against the age table. All our students are ideally placed in age-appropriate classes in order to be comfortable both developmentally and socially in a group of their peers. Because our classes will remain intentionally small in these socially distanced times, our qualified teachers will be well placed to give individualised attention to every child.

Step 2:

Complete an application form, ensuring that you fill in all the sections of the form. Attach a photo of the child to the form, and be sure to sign the form. Gather all the documents required, including your child’s last report card from their previous school. These should be submitted along with the application form. Make payment of the application fee directly to the bank – cash payments will not be accepted. Applications will not be processed until such time as the application fee has been paid.

Step 3:

Submit your application and all relevant documents, including a copy of the bank deposit slip. You can scan and send these by email if that is more convenient.

Once you have submitted your application, a short interview and assessment will be set up for your child once the application has been processed. This is likely to take anywhere between 20-90 minutes, depending on the age of the child. Children entering into Keystage 2 (Years 3-6) will be required to sit for written assessments in English and Maths.

You will be informed of the outcome of the application within 2 days by email, and be provided with further information at that time. For children who have been accepted, you will be given a starting set of documents to complete and submit, and you will be required to make payment of a deposit towards school fees before an invoice is issued.

If, at any stage of the application process, you need help or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email. We are happy to help in any way.
